How to find Shopify stores in Germany (2026)
Five ways to build a list of German Shopify stores, from search operators to Common Crawl, and how to qualify each store before you reach out.
Why German Shopify stores are worth finding
Germany is one of the largest ecommerce markets in Europe, and a big share of its Shopify merchants are small, independent brands: jewellery, cosmetics, home goods, coffee, fashion. They buy apps, agency work and services, and many of them are under-served because most lead tools focus on the US.
The catch is that there is no public list. Shopify does not publish its merchants, and a German store rarely says "Shopify" anywhere on the page. You have to find them.
1. Search operators
The quickest start is a search engine. Shopify stores share URL patterns, so queries like these surface stores that sell a certain product:
site:*.de inurl:/collections/ "schmuck" site:*.de inurl:/products/ "handgemacht" "powered by shopify" "impressum" kerzen
- Good for a first handful of stores in a niche.
- Slow beyond 50 results, and you cannot filter by size or apps.
2. Check if a site runs on Shopify
To confirm a single store, open its homepage and look for cdn.shopify.com in the page source, or visit /meta.json on the domain: a Shopify store answers with its shop details, including the myshopify.com address. Browser extensions do the same check with one click.
3. Common Crawl
Common Crawl is a free, public crawl of billions of web pages. Its columnar index lets you query URLs without downloading the pages, so you can list every .de host with Shopify-style /collections/ and /products/ paths. That gives you thousands of candidates. You still need to confirm each one and remove closed or redirected stores.
4. Lead databases
Commercial databases such as Store Leads have already done the crawling and confirmation, worldwide, with dashboards, exports and years of history. They are the right choice if you need many countries and work from spreadsheets.
5. Ask your agent
If you work in Claude Code or another MCP client, Truffle puts a German Shopify index and live research inside the conversation. You describe the stores you want, the agent turns it into filters, researches the shortlist and returns a table with contact channels.
Find small German jewellery brands on Shopify, 10 to 500 products, without a reviews app. Research the best 15 and tell me how to reach them.
Qualify before you reach out
- Activity: when was the newest product added? Stores that haven't changed in a year rarely buy.
- Size: product count and median price tell you whether they can afford you.
- Apps: what they already run tells you what they need, and which competitor you're replacing.
- The business: the Impressum names the company and its legal form. A GmbH and a one-person shop need different pitches.
