TruffleBot
If you found this page in your logs: TruffleBot reads public pages of Shopify storefronts so people who build tools for merchants can find shops that might want them.
What it fetches
A few public pages of your store, the same ones any visitor sees. It never logs in, never touches the cart or checkout, and never submits forms.
How it behaves
- It identifies itself as
TruffleBot/0.1 (+https://truffle.run/bot). - It obeys robots.txt rules for TruffleBot and for all user agents.
- It waits at least one second between requests to your store.
- It stops when a store asks it to slow down, and it never tries to get past bot protection.
- For shops run by one person, it does not store or share the owner's name, street address or phone number.
Opt your store out
Either way works, and both remove your store from future index updates.
- Add this to your robots.txt (in Shopify: Online Store, Themes, Edit code,
robots.txt.liquid):User-agent: TruffleBot Disallow: /
